At the end of the 2002 season, Mike Tice was hired as the interim Head Coach of the Minnesota Vikings. After the season, instead of searching for a coach that had experience as either a head coach or a coordinator at any level, former Vikings owner Red McCombs decided that saving money and going with the inexperienced and underqualified Mike Tice was a better option that finding a qualified candidate.

After 3 and 1/4 seasons, Tice has a record of 24 wins and 28 losses, 3 seasons without a winning record, and only one postseason appearance. However, to start a 2005 season that had much promise, Tice has led the Vikings to a 1-3 start, in which the team has been outscored 91-31 in their losses, all of which have been by 11 points or more.

Many of the problems that were present when Tice took over the team still remain despite a massive turnover in roster, leading many to believe that the biggest deficiency in the team is the head coach.

We, the undersigned, request that Mr. Wilf terminate Mike Tice as Minnesota Vikings Head Coach immediately. He does not possess the coaching expereience nor does he possess the intelligence necessary to coach a National Football League franchise.

By hiring a replacement, the Vikings stand a chance to become a better football team that is not limited by the shortcomings of its head coach.
