Recent change in Family carriage rules for Maersk Sailing officers dictates minimum age for children to sail as 4 years. This change reflects the companies reluctance in supporting family carriage for their officers, as at 4 years children start their schooling and spouses cannot leave their young children.
The company quotes "safety" as the reason behind this change. However when an individual is accompanied by his family onboard he has to sign an indemnity form, thus taking the responsibility on himself. Thus the change in age is irrelevant either ways.
This Petition is started considering the "Young Parents" who wish to share more moments as a family.
We, the undersigned, call on the MAERSK MANAGEMENT to change the age limit for children carriage onboard from 4 years back to 2 years.
