Officers at the Highland Council are proposing a radical change to fares on the Corran Ferry. These changes would have an enormous impact on local residents and businesses and threaten the economic well-being of already fragile communities.
The full list of changes is too long to place ahead of this petition but you can read the Highland Council report here: http://bit.ly/YW7B3g
As an independent councillor for the area, I am campaigning to make council officers think again about these proposals and to listen to local opinion.
Please join me in that campaign by the signing the petition.
With best wishes,
Andrew Baxter
Independent councillor for Fort William and Ardnamurchan Ward
Sign the Fair Fares on the Corran Ferry Petition
We, the undersigned, urge the Highland Council to reject plans to radically change the fare structure on the Corran Ferry. This ill-thought out plan has numerous damaging knock-on effects, including threatening the economic well-being of communities across the peninsula.
The proposals would disproportionately and unfairly affect those who use the ferry on a less-frequent basis. For example, someone travelling on the ferry once a week would pay an extra £170 a year in fares.
We need “fair fares” on the Corran Ferry.
