Erf 81 Tamboerskloof lies on the foot hills of Signal Hill, and is currently a neglected farm, with beautiful heritage buildings, which are being vastly neglected. The land was handed over by the Queen of England to the Military of South Africa, for military use, or for the people of South Africa.
For many years the use of the land has been debated, from scrap yards, developments and lately low cost housing. The only tenant for many years was a Philanthropist who runs the likes of a breeding farm for pigs and dogs. All the animals are neglected with very little protection form the elements.
The tenant also sublets the property to all sorts of characters. Recently the Police Mounted unit has been occupying a small portion of this farm, and we are in support of the unit occupying the entire farm.
We the undersigned call on Public Works, The City Council and the Military to allow the land to be used for the Mounted unit. As part of a heritage sight we will strongly oppose any development for residential purposes of any kind.
The farm has been neglected over the years of indecision, and we believe should now be utilized amd maintained in the manor intended by the title deed. We feel the Police Horse unit would be the ideal use for the farm. It would fall in line with continuing to support the military, it would be a service to the community, and a place the community could still be in support of.
The heritage building would be maintained, the land upgraded, a service to the people of South Africa, and an investment that remains with government.
