The South East Region of the USCA has an unwritten/verbal rule/custom that does not allow a new club to form or an existing club to move if within a 50 mile radius of an existing club without the existing club's approval. Although this rule cannot be found in any documentation to date, it has been confirmed through the Regional Director and Assistant Regional Director that it does exist as a verbal rule/custom which was passed down from the previous RD and was used recently to deny an existing club to move. There is also a new club pending approval with this same issue
This rule conflicts with the overall goal of promoting dog sport in the South East Region of USCA, limiting training techniques, trialing opportunities and general membership to only certain clubs thus denying the ability for growth both at the regional and national level.
We, the undersigned, call on the United Schutzhund Clubs of America and the South East Region of the USCA to eliminate the South East Region's 50 mile radius rule/custom.
