Casco Township Board of Trustees recently published proposed Ordinance NO. 56 that will prohibit all Off Road Vehicles (ORV’s) from operating on county roads within the township. The objective of the ordinance is “to protect the health, safety and welfare of persons and property in the Township”. However, many people do not feel as though operating ORV’s is considered a hazard to the residents or property, and that is not just the opinion of those who operate the ORVs themselves. People living in surrounding townships would also be affected since banning the use of roadways within Casco would eliminate riding from one township to another as a means of recreation and transportation. Residents of St. Clair County have been permitted to operate ORV’s on most county roads due to the passing of Resolution 16-25 in 2016, but this ban would precede the law already in place within the county.
We, the undersigned, call the Casco Township Board of Trustees to eliminate proposed Ordinance NO. 56.
