The school campuses on Peninsula Drive on the Bellarine are a daily mess with traffic congestion. There are three schools on one road that is not a through road. The entrance and exit for Peninsula Drive is Andersons Road.
Automobiles try to queue up to the entrance of the St. Thomas primary school while buses and automobiles attempt to get past the queue to access the St. Ignatius College and the Bellarine Secondary College. A lack of parking sparks people to park in No Standing zones and buses to make their own lane with the median strip.
Dangerous conditions exist for pedestrians and school children on bicycles. Road rules seem not to exist with frustration of drivers taking over.
We, the undersigned, call on the City of Greater Geelong, VIC Roads and our members of Parliament for the State of Victoria to eliminate this traffic congestion on Peninsula Drive at Drysdale, Victoria and make the school zones safe for pedestrians and children riding their bicycles.
