Dual Carriageway for Reid Hwy in Beechboro

Section of Reid Hwy between Beechboro Rd Nth and West Swan Rd is a single lane road, with dual lane intersections at both, including Altone Rd in between.

Due to traffic congestion, and multiple fatalities in recent years, a dual carriageway needs to be constructed here that will allow vehicles to travel from Roe Hwy to Tonkin Hwy without having to continuously merge after each intersection.

The intersection of Reid Hwy and Lord St has only Give Way signs. Large trucks and vehicles of all descriptions continuously feed into Reid Hwy from Lord St. Traffic speed on this section of Reid Hwy is 90km/h, but slows to as little as 20km/h at Lord St when these vehicles feed into Reid Hwy without due consideration.
A new signalised intersection is needed urgently.

Heading West along Reid Hwy after going through the West Swan Rd intersection sees the dual lanes merge into one within 50 metres. As a result of the dual carriageway project of Reid Hwy between West Swan Rd and Great Northern Hwy, this section of Reid Hwy is constantly bottlenecking with cars, creating blockages at the intersection itself.

All of these issues create road rage, which would be resolved if this section of Reid Hwy was reconstructed as a dual carriageway.
