We are SeekingJusticeNow because for the past 17 months, the District Attorney’s (DA’s) Office for the 13th New Mexico Judicial District has been relentlessly pursuing criminal child abuse charges against Josh and Aimee Kuckartz.
The DA has pursued them despite the fact that more than a year ago, the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) found Josh and Aimee to be fit parents and returned to them their five biological children and three special needs children that had been temporarily removed from their custody.
As someone that has been put in a place of trust by the public, the DA should ensure that families are protected, but rather he has violated trust through the vindictive prosecution against Josh and Aimee. Further, as concerned citizens we are alarmed at this re-indictment of the parents based on lesser charges that were no-billed by a previous judge. This pursuit of an innocent family is no longer acceptable and is a waste of taxpayer resources.
Pursuing charges that could put these parents in jail for 18 years due to a daughter’s broken leg appear to be more than harsh and vigorous prosecution. Justice is not served through this pursuit of parents who have never had any previous such offenses. Indeed, this is not judicial economy, it is abuse by the system of a loving family – forcing the children to live daily in uncertainty. This is wrong and we are Seeking Justice Now!
