Everyday at school, girls are always told to not wear skirts, shorts, tank tops, or strapless shirts in hot weather. We are always being criticized by showing our body parts such as our thighs, shoulders, stomach, or even bra straps. We are expected to wear pants and shirts which we are not comfortable in, because we are too hot inside the schools and out, Instead of humiliating girls in front of everyone, we should teach boys to respect girls and tell them that we are not sexual objects. Dress codes only enforce the idea that girls should cover up because "boys will be boys". What girls wear does not affect their intelligence, personality or self-respect.
The purpose of this petition is to allow girls to feel comfortable in their own skin and clothes that they wear without being harassed by boys in our schools and teach them to respect girls instead of making us wear clothes that we are not comfortable in.
