Don't Text, Just Drive

I am Mrs. Wilkins and my ELA class is currently engaged in a Global partnership with Moldova. We were given the task to research and implement a global Youth Day project in which my class chose texting and driving as they were concerned with their experiences of unsafe drivers.

Are you aware that currently in North Carolina the laws state that there is no handheld cell phone prohibition for drivers except that school bus drivers and novice drivers in North Carolina - drivers under the age of 18 with provisional licenses – are prohibited from using cell phones (handheld or hands-free) while driving (Drivinglaws.org). Recently, we have witnessed an increase in bus accidents (due to bus drivers failing to provide the safety they committed to and proceeded to look down to check their phones); truck drivers not being mindful and turning over on the interstate; or even novice/inexperienced drivers are reaching for their cell phones to check that social media notification. It is time to save lives, will you commit? Your commitment increases safety by a percentage (no matter how small)! Let's help save lives!
