From: The Dog Walkers of Brightlingsea & the surrounding areas.
It has come to our attention, that there is a faction within the local community, that is opposed to the current freedoms enjoyed by dogs & their owners in the Promenade area of our seafront.
Whilst we all have concerns over dog fowling & the collection there of by some owners, & a few dogs not being under control. As with humans, these tend to be the minority of the population.
Dog walkers, by necessity, are out every day of the year, maybe several times a day. We therefore, feel that we use this area more than most & fervently disagree that more restrictions be imposed on our liberties.
We have all enjoyed & appreciated our outdoor space over the last 12 months & as a consequence dog ownership has increased dramatically.
On behalf of everyone who has found joy in the company of their dogs & enjoyed the physical & mental health benefits that regular exercise has given them.
We the undersigned, call on the councils of Tendring & Brightlingsea, to reject the initiative to curtail dog presence on the Brightlingsea Promenade.
