Just when we thought the era of repression is behind us amid the ongoing reforms ushered by the masses, it is totally unacceptable for the administration to engage in displacement of citizens without adequate pre-planning for their safety and well-being. The campaign underway in and around Addis Ababa to destroy dwellings constitutes a gross human rights violation that exposes the victims to an undue and enormous hardship. Therefore, we strongly urge the government to take immediate and appropriate actions to find a short- and
long-term solutions by providing proper care for the displaced and giving due consideration for the rights of citizens in planning and execution of development programs.

To that end, we ask that you join us by signing this petition to ask public administrators at the Federal, Regional and City levels of the government, including his excellency P.M. Dr. Abiy Ahmed’s office, to give precedence to human rights prior to and during economic development planning and implementation.
