Develop a Spin-Off of Glee as a Mid-season Replacement

I am likely not alone in thinking that there should have been a spin-off of “Glee” focusing on the characters of Rachel Berry and Kurt Hummel, beginning with the person who developed the spin-off (likely either Brad Falchuk or Ian Brennan) serving as executive producer and showrunner, while Ryan Murphy continues to serve as showrunner on “Glee,” as well as him and the remaining solo executive producer serving as executive producer of both shows.

At this point, the two criss-crossing stories of Rachel & Kurt and Will & New Directions feel like two different shows, with the former being a raw and (to be frank) realistic musical, while the latter is the quirky, unrealistic musical that we've known “Glee” to be since its beginning. It works fairly well both times by itself, but it seems a bit schitzofrenic to switch back to New York just as things get really fun on the Lima side of things. The point is, I know you (Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Ian Brennan and likely whichever Fox exec gets this petition) want to do the spin-off, too, as you're treating the stories in New York and Lima like two different shows.

The great thing is, you don't need to sacrifice the relationship between the stories, because you can have two shows that can crossover as frequently or as infrequently as you like. Another plus is that you can allow the two stories more time to let each other breathe, possibly getting more musical numbers in on either portion of the country you profile. It also means that you can shoot on location in New York more, with one staff of writers sitting in New York, the other in Los Angeles. In short, if you can tell me one reason why you can't do a spin-off of “Glee” in addition to “American Horror Story” (where you can, at least, still work with Brad Falchuk if you choose him to develop the spin-off) and “The New Normal,” I will drop this petition. But if you can't, I and every other person who signs this petition strongly pressure you to develop a spin-off as late as next September and as early as March.

I know it's a challenge for you to correct every mistake made by your writers in the transition period, so I'm trying to make it easier on you by lifting the heavy load on your shoulders slightly.
