Wij ondergetekenden merken al jaren dat de situatie van veel boeren en vissers onhoudbaar is. Ze krijgen te weinig centen voor groenten, zuivel, vlees en vis die ze produceren of aanleveren. In een wereld waarin fairtrade en kwaliteit van voeding een dagelijks onderwerp van gesprek zijn, is dit onduldbaar. Af en toe nemen nationale of Europese overheden maatregelen die hoogstens symptomen bestrijden maar de situatie niet fundamenteel wijzigen: er wordt wat inkomenssteun toegekend, verliezen worden gecompenseerd of men probeert een aantal mistoestanden binnen de perken te houden.

Nous soussignés, pendant des années, ont remarqué que la situation de nombreux agriculteurs et pêcheurs est insoutenable. Ils reçoivent trop peu d'argent pour les légumes, les produits laitiers, la viande et le poisson qu'ils produisent ou livrent. Dans un monde où le commerce équitable et la qualité de la nourriture sont un sujet quotidien de conversation, c'est intolérable. Parfois, les gouvernements nationaux ou européens prennent des mesures qui, au mieux, traitent les symptômes, mais ne changent pas fondamentalement la situation: un soutien au revenu est accordé, les pertes sont compensées ou des tentatives sont faites pour contenir un certain nombre de maux.
ENGLISH
We undersigned, for years, have noticed that the situation of many farmers and fishermen is unsustainable. They get too little money for vegetables, dairy, meat and fish that they produce or deliver. In a world where fair trade and quality of food are a daily topic of conversation, this is intolerable. Occasionally, national or European governments take measures that at best address symptoms but do not fundamentally change the situation: some income support is granted, losses are compensated or attempts are made to keep a number of ills in check.

- hanteer een minimumprijs voor voedingsproducten door vraag en aanbod op mekaar af te stemmen, een marktregulering gestuurd door alle betrokkenen
- zet een actueel systeem op poten dat overproductie tegengaat
- hanteer dit systeem om binnen de sector verjonging, sociale rechtvaardigheid, milieu- en landschapszorg, gezondheid en innovatie plaats te geven.
- subsidieer een onafhankelijke korte keten die de macht van de grote retailstructuren openbreekt en de veilingen democratiseert.

- appliquer un prix minimum pour les produits alimentaires en faisant correspondre l'offre et la demande, une réglementation du marché dirigée par toutes les parties concernées
- Mettre en place un système à jour qui empêche la surproduction
- utiliser ce système pour assurer le rajeunissement, la justice sociale, les soins environnementaux et paysagers, la santé et l'innovation dans le secteur.
- subventionner une chaîne d'approvisionnement courte et indépendante qui brise la puissance des grandes structures de vente au détail et démocratise les ventes aux enchères.

- set up an up-to-date system that prevents overproduction
- use this system to provide rejuvenation, social justice, environmental and landscape care, health and innovation within the sector.
