The main question being asked is
WHAT WERE ARE YOU THINKING NOT SUPPORTING RENTERS AS A PRIORITY?
According to a 2018-2019 Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government report, 55% of new social housing tenancies in England where to single adults, whilst 21% where to a single adult & child(ren). The Office of National Statistics published a report in 2017 saying that more than 4.5 million people were renting privately across the UK. Younger households 25-34 yrs made up (35%) of the total private rental market.
If these demographics lose their jobs or a majority of their monthly income due to Coronavirus measures and are forced into self isolation and statutory sick pay, then renters will not be able to pay rent, nor rental arrears, this WILL BE compounded by overdraft interest rate rises due to come into effect in April.
Please consider the proposals in this petition with compassion and urgency.

The newest measures announced by government have failed to support those in private rental and social rented properties without housing allowance.
A 3 Month Mortgage Holiday is a fantastic support, but it’s far from inclusive enough. Those in privately rented properties and social housing without housing allowance need a rent holiday too, in order to survive the pandemic period.
WHAT WE NEED
> 2 Months Rental Fees waived on all tenants currently renting social housing without housing allowance support.
> Government enforced private landlord rental reduction of 50% of the total monthly rental cost of a privately rented house, apartment, room for a period of 3 month.
*Private landlords of rented mortgaged properties should not be allowed to benefit from this crisis by receiving a 3 month mortgage holiday and not passing it on to their tenants in the form of rental reductions by law.
