Nintendo Wii has a feature that allows users to copy game data from the Wii console to an SD Card. This feature is useful for two reasons: 1) to back-up game data, and 2) to transfer game data from one Wii console to another Wii console.
On the SD Card designed for the Wii is a message that says “Store your game saves.” This led me to believe that I could use this SD Card to back-up all my game information.
Nintendo encourages backing data up onto an SD Card when sending in a Wii Console for repairs.
I copied most of my saved data fine, but Super Smash Brothers Brawl did not allow me to copy.
I called Nintendo Customer Service and they confirmed that this was intentionally blocked in the programming of Super Smash Brothers Brawl.
This results in having to take the entire Wii Console to a friend’s house to use your unlocked stages/characters. Because we must take the entire console and not only the SD Card, the Wii Console receives more damage and use and wears out sooner. Not being able to back-up saves to an SD Card is a direct link in the chain that leads to a broken Wii Console.
We, the undersigned, call on Nintendo and/or the developers of Super Smash
Brothers Brawl, to allow copying of Super Smash Brothers Brawl data from the Wii
Console to an SD Card.
