School buses are an enormous cost for schools across the United States. When we convert buses to CNG it will decrease taxes and improve the learning environment of all children.
CNG for school buses will create cleaner air than buses previously running on diesel gas.
Converting school buses to CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is economically and environmentally beneficial. The average price of diesel gas for 2011, according to the EIA (Energy Information Administration), is around 3.87 a gallon.
The total, average amount of gas for a bus lot is approximately 822,857,143 gallons. The total, average fuel cost is roughly 3,184,457,143.41 dollars a year of tax payers’ money. Converting school buses only costs around 12,000 dollars and will save an annual total of 55,000 dollars on gas per bus. That’s an astounding estimate of about 1,650,000 a year saved on school bus gas prices.
This extra money can go to children’s’ education, for example: hiring teachers, improving the children’s learning environment, creating more recreational and leisure activities for students, and improving what students are given for lunch. According to the California Air Resource Board converting school buses to CNG will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% in a year.
This will create a cleaner environment and a better future for the health of all. If we convert school buses to run on CNG instead of diesel gas it will create jobs in today’s bad economy. It will also improve Lake County FL. Local economy.
