Continue to Provide an Excellent Edgemont Education
- Target:
- Edgemont School District and the Board of Education
- Region:
- United States of America
It has been recommended by the Administration at the Greenville School that the current 4th grade (Greenville Class of 2009) be reduced from 4 sections down to 3 for the 2007/2008 academic year.
Over their time at Greenville, this Class has had a number of issues both academically and socially. ELA test scores confirm that this class has academically underperformed other grades within the District as well as those outside the District. The teachers have confirmed that socially and academically this class has performed below the usual Edgemont standards. Although inroads have been made, We are very concerned that a reduction in the number of teachers (classes) would seriously impact this Classes' continued development and long-term success.
Given the past history and current performance of this class, the Administration and the BOE should not take the risk and reduce the number of teachers going forward.
We, the undersigned, parents of the Greenville Class of 2009, strongly request that the Administration and the Board of Education of the Edgemont Union Free School District maintain 4 sections for the current 4th grade (Greenville Class of 2009) for the 2007/2008 academic school year.
