#Insult to cultural history
Target:
State of Georgia governor
Region:
United States of America

We as a people are requesting that the Memorial for Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee be removed from Stone Mountain. This is a slap in the face to us as a people, it brings back painful memories of slavery and painful memories of the people that fought to keep us in slavery. Our ancestors have suffered enough and today it seems like they're trying to inflict more pain on us by rubbing this in our face. Out of respect to our culture, out of respect for Dr. King due to this being his home and out of respect to us as a people we present this petition to have this Memorial remove it is the largest Confederate Memorial in the world and this needs to be removed. It's creating more hate, it's creating more division and is creating a hostile environment. All people are created equal and therefore we should be treated as such and as long as these memorials stand it's sending the message that we as a people will never be equal.

We the people call on the governor of Georgia to have the world's largest Confederate Memorial removed out of respect for us as a people, out of respect for the fight that Martin Luther King has fought, to erase this painful memory, to stop the division that it is creating amongst people and to stop the hostile environment it is creating in our communities.
