Concerning the health and life of political refugee (Mr. Shahsiah) and other Iranian refugees in Turkey

Dear High Commissioner,

Recently we have been informed that one of our compatriots Mr. Hamid Shahsiah, a member of the Free Iranian Oil Industry Movement is unfortunately diagnosed with lung cancer and had to spend all his money on his chemo therapy treatment. He was not only able to follow his medical treatment, but also had difficulties to pay the rent of his apartment in which he stays with his partner and two daughters. Under the pressure of these difficult circumstances he decided to commit suicide as a last resort. Fortunately, only minutes before his last moments the police rescued his life by bringing him to the hospital. At the time of this petition, Mr. Shahsiah was not able to speak with others.

We have been notified that some employees of the UN and the police have already been visiting him in the hospital. Mr. Shahsiah’s refugees request has already been accepted by the United States of America and he has been invited to enter US grounds. Unwillingly, he was forced to stay for a very long period in awaiting for his transfer to the US.

In order to financially support the family, his under aged daughter has been working in a restaurant for 13 hours a day. Her daily income is about only 30 Lira (about 10-12 dollars), which is more like slavery than a regular job. At the same time we have been informed that a part of the refugees from Syria, Afghanistan and Somalia are getting a monthly payment by the UN. There are even speculations, that in the past there have been cases of Iranian refugees who suffered from diseases and the lack of medical attention, who have lost their life in Turkey.

We, the supporters of this petition, are deeply concerned about the health and life of this political refuge (Mr. Shahsiah) and other Iranian refugees who are in the same conditions.

We kindly request the UN in Turkey not to allow that the lives of Iranian refugees are brought to an end, by the lack of medical attention and difficult financial circumstances.

We hope the fate and health of our fellow Iranian citizens are taken seriously and request your kind attention to this matter.

کمیسر محترم عالی پناهندگان سازمان ملل، ترکیه

با احترام،

با کمال تاسف باخبر شدیم که یکی از هموطنان ما آقای حمید شاه سیاه از فعالین جنبش آزادیخواهان صنعت نفت ایران، بعد از ابتلا به بیماری سرطان ریه برای شیمی درمانی به بیمارستان رجوع میکند و آنچه که پول در اختیار داشته بابت شیمی درمانی به بیمارستان میپردازد، متاسفانه برای ادامه درمان پول بیشتری در اختیار نداشته و حتی قادر نیست اجاره خانه را که باتفاق همسر و دو دخترش در آن زندگی میکند بپردازد. با کمال تاسف فشار زندگی وی را مستاصل مینماید و با مصرف تعداد زیادی قرص اقدام به خودکشی مینماید ولی دقیقا زمانیکه مدت زیادی به فوت او باقی نمانده بود بکمک پلیس به بیمارستان برده میشود که خوشبختانه او را نجات میدهند. وی درزمان نشر این پتیشن هنوز قادر بصحبت کردن نبود. باخبر شدیم که چند نفر از کارمندان سازمان ملل و پلیس بدیدن وی به بیمارستان رفته اند.
آقای حمید شاه سیاه از طرف سازمان ملل بعنوان پناهنده قبول شده و آمریکا هم وی را بعنوان پناهنده دعوت شده قبول نموده که مدت زیادی در بدترین شرایط در انتظار حرکت بسوی آمریکا بسر میبرد.

دختر زیر سن او برای کمک بزندگی خانوادگی در آشپزخانه یک رستوران در ازای سیزده ساعت کار در روز فقط 30 لیره (یعنی حدود 10-12 دلار) دریافت میکند که به استثمار و بهره وری بیشتر شبیه است تا کار. این در حالیست که شنیده ایم پناهندگان سوری، بخشی از پناهندگان افغانی و سومالیائی از سازمان ملل پول ماهانه دریافت میدارند.

ما امضاء کنندگان این پتیشن نگرانی شدید خود را درباره صحت و زندگی این پناهنده سیاسی و سایر پناهندگان هموطنمان ابراز میداریم و حتی شایعاتی وجود دارد که چند پناهنده ایرانی در ترکیه در اثر بیماری و عدم وجود امکانات درمانی در سکوت و تنهائی فوت کرده اند.

امیدواریم که سازمان ملل متحد در ترکیه سرنوشت و صحت هموطنان ما را جدی گرفته و اجازه ندهد که ایرانیان پناهنده بدین شکل دردناک بدون هیچگونه امکان درمانی در بدترین شرایط ناچار به خاتمه دادن بزندگی خود گردند و دختران جوان آنها مورد بهره وری و استثمار کارفرمایان قرار گیرند.
