It is still important that we work together to get the Village of Fair Haven's comprehensive plan to match our zoning laws. So, we cannot let our guard down. Now is the time to prevent this type of corporate expansion in our village. So, before it happens again, we have the opportunity to rewrite our laws.

We, the undersigned, are opposed to the establishment of a franchised store within the boundaries of the Village of Fair Haven. Fair Haven is a small village that adheres to the promotion of small businesses. Franchised chain stores threaten the viability of our local businesses. Small businesses simply cannot compete with the broader resources that chain stores have available to them. The placement of a franchised store within the limits of the Village of Fair Haven is contrary to the Village’s documented long-range goals and objectives. The presence of a franchised chain store, within the Village of Fair Haven, will also negatively impact the environment through noise, light and drainage issues that are inherent with a large business.
