In 1995 Edmonton's population voted to stop scheduled air service out of the City Centre Airport (known as the Muni back then). 12 Years later, City Centre Airport is one of the fastest growing airports for movements in Alberta, if not Canada.
Communities north of Edmonton still have scheduled service, something we as Edmontonians have done to please our Northern Neighbours.
Because of the northern neighbourhoods having this access, southern communities like Lethbridge are now demanding the same access and realistically why shouldn't they?
To end this debate once and for all, I with the below are requesting that Mayor Mandel call for a general referendum on actually closing the City Centre airport to all air traffic.
We, the undersigned, call on Mayor Mandel and the city councillor of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to call a public referendum on closing the City Centre Airport (YXD).
