Dear Commissioner Geesman:
The existing South Bay Power Plant is an inefficient and outdated facility that has been polluting western Chula Vista since the 1960s. I support its removal from the Bayfront. However, the new proposed project seeks approval to emit a comparable amount of pollution. We want cleaner air in the future, not the status quo! This is our only opportunity to prevent future decades of pollution and pursue a clean energy future.
Please don’t make another 50 year mistake.
I strongly urge the California Energy Commission to:
--Reject the current 620MW duct-fired power plant proposal
--Reject any options that does not emit significantly less pollution on downwind communities.
--Require clean, renewable energy and conservation as part of the project.
