We are proposing this petition in an effort to establish a city ordinance that requires residents of Ailey to maintain and remain responsible for their property (ies) and the things or/and person(s) on it. It has become a concern that some properties on the Martin Luther King Dr. side of the railroad are not being maintained and are becoming a hazard or potential threat to the safety of the residents of Ailey.
Properties are over grown and present breeding grounds for snakes, mosquitoes, and other harmful animal and insects. The environmental health of the neighborhood is being compromised by the litter and biohazards (urine soaked mattress burned, used tampons and garbage) that is thrown and burned on the streets. The safety of not only our children but the children of Ailey are at danger to vicious dogs (pit bulls) that are not properly restrained and allowed to run the streets.
This petition is our effort as parents and citizens of Ailey to provide the best living environment of us, our and your families.
Our petition propose that the city of Ailey maintain these unkempt properties (via mowing back brush, demolition of condemned houses, and constant insect control) and attach the bill to the property owner's taxes every year.
Trash on the streets that requires any picking up other that what the trash truck maintains needs to be done at the expense of the home owner. Any pets over 35 lbs need to be restrained in a fence (via fenced in yard or cage) and provided proper shelter from the elements of nature.
