City of West Kelowna Zoning Bylaw 0154 Section 3.3.1a Short Term Rentals (vacation rentals)
The City of West Kelowna currently prohibits Short Term Rentals (vacation rentals). This is a rental (30 days or less) of a residence where the owner does not live at that particular residence. There are many prohibited Short Terms Rentals already operating in the City of West Kelowna. Bylaw Enforcement does not have enough manpower to monitor these Short Term Rentals therefore the Mayor & Council are considering licensing this type of rental (less work for Bylaw Enforcement). These vacation rentals cause many problems in residential neighbourhoods e.g., noise, excess garbage, lack of parking and decrease in value of neighbouring properties. If Mayor & Council change this Zoning Bylaw 0154 to licence Short Term Rentals, there will be an increased number of unwanted vacation rentals. These Short Term Rental occupants have no regard for the Good Neighbour Bylaw, Item 7 Noise Reduction, 7.1 & 7.2.
Residents of West Kelowna have invested in our safe, peaceful & quiet neighbourhoods and want them to stay that way.

To be clear - B&B, AgriTourism, Resort Townhomes, Resort Apartments, Carriage Homes are NOT prohibited.
