Carroll Valley Council members will again be voting for or against having a limited amount of chickens in Carroll Valley. The ordinance being proposed before them would limit any household to a maximum of 6 hens along with many other requirements that would eliminate many potential neighborhood nuisances that commonly come to mind. Neighborhoods all across the united states are adopting chickens as pets and families are wanting the same opportunity to provide this educational experience with their children as well as retirees who find the hobby peaceful and relaxing. Contrary to many stigma's associated with chickens, they are actually fairly quiet animals (hens), the smell is minimal when maintained, especially in small numbers, Concerns with diseases are no higher than that of any other pet and fresh, organic eggs are hard to come by (local producers still use bi product / non organic feed). There are plenty of backyard chicken resources available via the internet for anyone who wishes to do personal research.

Most of us that live in Carroll Valley know that many citizens already have chickens and have had them for years and now is the time where clear guidance needs to be enacted. In fact, according to borough Staff, the only few complaints they've had so far were from people reporting residents "having chickens" rather than any associations to a nuisance or disturbance. We are asking for members of Carroll Valley to sign and let CV Council members know how many residents wish to have this ordinance passed once and for all to have some clear guidance on the issue and to provide an outline to maintain the safety and beauty of Carroll Valley.
