Nashville Schools are allowing teachers to use their personal devices to photograph and record our children in addition to school surveillance cameras for the purpose of ridiculing and shamming children.
Many children are becoming objects of abusive treatment by school staff and peers due to unjust labeling fueled by discrimination and racial prejudice. Education is a fundamental human right and essential for the exercise of all other human rights. It promotes individual freedom and empowerment and yields important development benefits. Yet countless children are being deprived of quality educational opportunities because of conventionalism in the Nashville School District.
Constitutional and Civil Rights are being infringed upon by school staff as well as blatant violations of school rules. School staff must be held accountable for their own abuse of power and authority in participating and instigating chronic bullying, abusive treatment of students, and violation of school policies.
It is necessary that school staff be required to set a positive example and be motivating role models for students – which should include following the same school rules, policies and regulations established for students.
We respectfully request that all staff members of the Nashville School District be held accountable to the same rules and regulations as students attending their schools and no longer be allowed the use of personal cell phones in or on school property during school hours.
School staff shall not be authorized the use of personal devices (outside of the school’s own surveillance system) to photograph, video or voice record, or capture images of students for any purpose or use of documenting students.
We (the undersigned) do hereby support and agree with this petition and request for change in the Nashville School District staff rules, regulations, and policies.
