Current legislation does not adequately protect society from sexual victimization.
As children are the most vulnerable we believe that anyone who is convicted of sex crimes against children should automatically be deemed a dangerous offender.
PETITION TO THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA:
We the undersigned residents of Canada draw the attention of the Government of Canada to the current provisions of the criminal code as it relates to designation of dangerous offenders.
We believe the current legislation does not competently provide protection to citizens, especially children, against sexual victimization. Given that studies show 98% of dangerous offenders are at high risk to re-offend we do not believe current legislation addresses the reality of re-offending.
Therefore your petitioner's request this legislation be repealed and amended to state that anyone convicted of sexual crimes against children automatically be designated a dangerous offender.
