Burton and Highcliffe bus petition

Presently the bus service to Burton and Highcliffe is not acceptable, running infrequently or often with no buses turning up on time or at all. Residents are having to walk. The service that is wanted is one which would include a return both ways up to 11.15 at night to and from Highcliffe and Burton.

We suggest that the yellow bus service negotiates Nationally and at local level so that there is a means test to enable the disabled and elderly residents to be able to get to Purewell or Christchurch. Bus passes could only be given out to those elderly residents with an income below a certain amount so that it makes it easier to subsidize the route. The present 1a could go to Burton and the 1b could continue to Highcliffe and back, thus not terminating before Sommerford.

Both those profit making routes are capable of sustaining this improvement to a public right to a decent public transport service. Alternatively the Red bus Service needs to stop cutting out buses and provide a similar service as suggested. It is impossible to get back to Christchurch after 6.30pm ish. from Highcliffe. We the undersigned request that local MPs in Bournemouth and Christchurch, Lymington and other relevant areas take this on board and listen to their constituents.

This is in the best interests of public safety and welfare. Even those with cars need a garage sometimes and are without transport!
