Build an All Tide Boat Ramp at Midge Point, Queensland
- Target:
- Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads
- Region:
- Australia
The local beach town of Midge Point and surrounds have recently been adversely affected by Cyclone Debbie.
The results are devastating for all concerned but the little fishing village has also lost the one boat ramp accessible to all! The local resort, Laguna Quays, with the one boat ramp, has locked out the local & visiting boat owners indefinitely!
Members of the local fishing club and some long term locals, have uncovered an area which could be developed with minimal disruption to the environment and fish breeding habitats which could open up a pathway to the southern end of the 74 Whitsunday Islands. This petition will be used to enforce our concerns to the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads Minister, The Honourable, Mr. Byrnes, The Honourable Member for Whitsunday, Mr Costigan and The Honourable Member for Mackay, Ms Gilbert.
We, the undersigned, are fishing club members and concerned citizens who urge our leaders to listen to the 13732 registered boat owners of Mackay and Surrounds with only TWO (2) All Tide Boat Ramp Lanes and only Fifteen (15) Near All Tide Boat Ramp Lanes! That equates to eight hundred and seven (807) boats per Lane!
