Build a skate park in Yonkers

Due to lack of areas for young skateboarders to express themselves through their talent of sport, they have found other places in the city of Yonkers to skate such as public spots that have disrupted citizens of the city and are now being prohibited from these certain areas.

The result of these restrictions has driven them to a life of crime such as getting involved in gangs, the use of drugs, violence, and causing mayhem. To help prevent further deterioration of our nations youth, we urge you to consider this petition in the hopes that it would provide a safe, fun, and constructive environment where kids can find another alternative to a life of crime on the streets.

It would also help to kids keep active and stay healthy as opposed to staying indoors and playing video games or being on the computer all day. It is also a known fact that keeping fit and healthy can release endorphins that make us happier. It is also a defense in helping to prevent or fight health risks such as our youth suffer from obesity and diabetes.

Even the first lady Michelle Obama has been encouraging children to stay active by telling them to play outside for at least 60 minutes a day. We thank you for taking the time out to read this petition and hope you will consider all that we are proposing.
