Tweenies, regardless of personal opinion, has helped children learn in about 270 territories around the world. The BAFTA Award-winning series hasn't been in production since 2005, but I feel it's time to bring the series back onto television. There is no better time to have the series return, considering it's the 20th anniversary of Tweenies.
The show is threatened due to low ratings. The set of the show at Elstree Studios has been demolished after wrapping and many of the props have been sold. I feel CBeebies needs to realize that, despite a decline in ratings and sales, Tweenies still means a lot to people. Not just to the children who grew up on the series, but those who still watch it to this day.
Many children who were the first to watch Tweenies are now parents who have children of their own that watch reruns of the series. Future generations won't “come and play” with the 4 Monkey like infants if the show isn’t revived.
The Tweenies themselves, to many of the children who watch the show, are enduring friends who confront issues families care about in the UK.
In short, such endearing characters and a television series that has been around for 20 years shouldn't end like this. Tweenies is still in the hearts of children across the globe and, if this petition is successful, thry could touch the hearts of millions more for a long time to come.
