The network was launched on October 7, 1996, as Discovery Kids, a spin-off of Discovery Channel that featured science, nature, and adventure-themed programs aimed towards children aged between 6 and 11.
In April 2009, Hasbro announced a joint venture with Discovery to re-launch Discovery Kids as The Hub (later Hub Network) on October 10, 2010; Hasbro handled programming, while Discovery handled distribution and advertising sales.
The Hub was intended to be a general, youth-oriented network with a "diverse" lineup, primarily featuring programming adapted from Hasbro franchises (such as Transformers, its board games, My Little Pony, Pound Puppies, and Littlest Pet Shop), along with other, family-oriented programs such as sitcom reruns and films.
I love the hub network so much. it has amazing cartoons like my little pony, transformers: prime, dan vs. and great reruns of old tv shows like alf, mork and mindy, fraggle rock, doogie howser, family ties and honey, i shrunk the kids. but in October 13, 2014, the hub was changed to discovery family.
The network is now boring. They aired reruns of discovery shows that has swearing in it. they air nothing but reruns of cake boss. They aired cartoons, but they aired when kids go to school. if you go to the discovery family website, it's boring. It's has only the schedule, but no games and no videos.
I want the hub back. i miss watching step by step, dan vs. and family ties. there's rarely a network that kids and adults can watch together. i know, there's a lot of people look back to that channel and wish we can still watch that channel today, but i if i tell you there's a possibility of bringing it back? well, with the power of the internet and signatures, we can bring back the hub network. that why i'm calling kids, adults and of course bronies to sign the petition and ask discovery and hasbro to bring back the channel. and rehire the hub ceo margaret loesch. renew shows like dan vs. and pound puppies. bring back animaniacs. stop airing shows like cake boss and extreme couponing and air discovery kids shows like time wrap trio, flight 29 down, Popular Mechanics for Kids, darcy's wild life and Popular Mechanics for Kids and also you guys should write letters to both discovery and hasbro.
