Bike Jumps for Ku-ring-gai

This petition has been made for the grant of 70 metres by 40 metres of flat semi clear land in the Ku-Ring-Gai area. The land will hopefully be around the Ku-ring-gai area. Prefferably Killara, Gordon, Lindfield.

The land will be used for bicycle jumps. The main users for the jumps will be local experienced riders.

The reason that these jumps are needed in this area is to provide many different aged riders a safe, clean and local area to jump their bicycles. These jumps are greatly needed by riders as the closest place for bicycle jumps is Homebush Bay Olympic Park, Terry hills or Oxford Falls and these bike jumps are close to an hour away by car and even further by bike.

These jumps will also give riders and alternative riding ground instead of roaming the streets, riding on footpaths and in front of walkers all day round.

The bicycle jumps will stay within the allocated land and will cause the least amount of damage to the environment. The jumps will need MINIMAL help from council and will be built safely and maintained by local riders (Daniel Olsen-Ahyee, Ryan Krishnan, Sam Buckland, Mitchell Slack and Cameron Blake). We will accomadate riders of varied ability by creating hard and easy lines.

The jumps will be safe and there will be warnings and signs saying that a helmet must be warn at all times. There will also be signs warning that these jumps are recommended for experienced riders and new riders should proceed with extreme care or try the easier jumps. There will also be signs with the number for the Ambulance and Police in case and injury occurs.

We will need no funding from the council for shovels and lawn mowers etc. All we ask for is a general waste bin and a bottle recycling bin so that there is no littering from other people; also for a few signs if possible warning that little children should not wander into the area. A hip height fence would make the area more secure and safe if wanted.

A council representative can guide us on what to do and regularly check the area if need so.
