Bachelor of Social Sciences has a Social Work and Counseling option or a double major offered at EIT Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.
EIT have informed students The Social Work Registration Board has said they must change their degree to 4 years as from 2016.
EIT are looking at then taking out the Counseling option completely from the Degree and not having it as an option at all.
We as fellow students and the community want a Counselling degree to still be an option at EIT and do not want it depleted at all from EIT.
We also want steps put in place so any changes that occur with the Social Work degree will not be detrimental to part time and fulltime current students.
We want to have the current BASS degree papers carried on so the current students can finish their degrees under the current system for the BASS degree.
