Derby County F.C. paid to have a DCFC Banner placed in the Immigration Lounge. This was erected by Airport Staff and later taken down by Airport Staff. The official reason given was that the banner was put up in error and had to be taken down as correct procedures had not been followed and that they support all cities equally.
The actual reason was that Nottingham Forest supporters complained. We feel unfairly discriminated against as Derby County supporters on the grounds that (1) it appears ok for the Airport to erect a 'Bow & Arrow' logo which alludes to Nottingham but not ok to have a paid for advertisement for Derby County. (2) the Airport which is situated in Leicestershire with a Derbyshire postcode was going to have a permanent name change to 'Nottingham East Midlands Airport' until objections forced a u-turn.

This behaviour has illustrated a clear bias in favour of Nottingham such that the supporters of Derby County are adamant that unless the advertising banner is re-erected we will have no alternative but to boycott East Midlands Airport in favour of using Birmingham, or Leeds Bradford Airport wherever and whenever possible.
We the undersigned, call upon the Manchester Airports Group (M.A.G.) and its Executives to re-erect the advertising banner 'WE ARE DERBY' taken down from the Immigration Lounge.
If the banner is not re-erected we call on Derby County supporters to boycott using the airport in favour of alternative Airports due to a clear bias in favour of Nottingham being shown.
Alternative Airports such as Birmingham International or Leeds/Bradford will be used wherever and whenever possible.
