On the 10th April 2022 a rally took place on the motorway in Dublin in support of Russian aggression against Ukraine, symbols “Z”, “V” and flag of the aggressor country were used.
It came to light that these people are planning another event like this on the 7th May 2022.
These symbols should be banned from being displayed in Ireland, as has been the case in several other countries.
The reason these symbols should be banned is because they are no different from the flags and symbols used by ISIS or fascists groups. This is because all these groups share the same goals – the spread of hatred, use of violence against those who are different and oppose the freedom of people to democratically decide their future.
Ireland was one of the first countries in Western Europe to open its borders to Ukrainians fleeing their country after it was attacked by Russia. For these people to see these symbols being displayed on the streets of Ireland, it must be heart breaking.
The organizers of these rallies say it to oppose censorship. To the best of my knowledge the Irish State or its people have not prevented anyone from giving their opinion on any subject.

We, the undersigned, call on the Irish Government to ban in Ireland the display in public of any symbols that represent the spread of hatred, use of violence against those who are different, and oppose the freedom of people to democratically decide their future. This includes the symbols "Z" and "V" used in Russia's war in Ukraine.
