The petition to CRTC is a reaction to the lies, fabricated stories, misleading news, slanderous information and propaganda of war and ethnic hatred spread by RT (Russia Today), Perviy Kanal (First Channel) and NTV TV channels of the Russian Federation in Canada and worldwide.
Specifically, RT News has broadcast the following examples of false, misleading and inaccurate reports on the situation in Ukraine:

On behalf of the 1.2-million Ukrainian Canadian community, concerned with the slanderous information propaganda war and ethnic hatred spread by RT (Russia Today), Perviy Kanal and NTV TV channels of the Russian Federation, I would like state the following:
The abovementioned channels have continually distorted facts about major international events such as the situation in Syria, Georgia and most recently in Ukraine with a view of fanning hatred among nations and propagating war.
The above channels have further distorted facts connected with the recent Russian invasion - of the Crimea region of Ukraine - which has been condemned by the international community -where they present information about the alleged need “to protect” ethnic Russians. This information was verified by government officials from Canada, the United States and other countries, as well as international organizations like the Organization for the Security and Cooperation in Europe, the United Nations and other international agencies, who have concluded Russia has distorted facts to incite a war in Crimea and in Ukraine. Canada has recalled its Ambassador from Russia as a result of this invasion and has instituted sanctions against a number of Russian officials responsible for the invasion of Crimea .
