The Federal Government offers grants for summer employment opportunities for students, between 15-30 years of age. This means if a student is over the age of 30 they do not qualify for a summer job that is funded by a Federal Government grant.
This is extremely unfair, many students return to school to further their education later in life only to be discriminated against because of age, this can be extremely discouraging to say the least. Summer employment is usually a way for a student to get a foot in the door to future employment, in their chosen field of study after graduation, therefore the older students are not getting the same opportunities for employment in their chosen fields of study after graduation as younger students are , due to the fact that they do not qualify for summer employment opportunities that are funded by the Federal Government, because of age discrimination. It is time that this unfairness has come to a end!
