Please change my name!
Hi, I am an Australian bird and unfortunately my name does not describe me properly! I am Australia’s only representative of the Stork family, so you’d think I’d be called an ‘Australian Stork’. For many years I have been known as the Jabiru a nice name but it was un-Australian as I have a cousin by that name in South America! A scientist decided to give me a name change because of that! So I was then named ‘Black-necked Stork’. I’ll let you into a little secret! “I don’t have a black neck!” It is a name that does not suit me as it describes me wrongly!
I want to have my named changed and I want to be called, ‘Australian Stork’ that’s what I am! A ‘True Blue Aussie’. By the way, in case you didn’t know, my neck is iridescent green with a tinge of purple. My wife has a bright yellow eye and I being a male, have a black eye and no, she didn’t hit me. Our kids look like us but a lot lighter until they mature.
Please add your name, to the petition, so I can change mine!
Remember, Vote 1 'Australian Stork'

We would like the name of the Black-necked Stork (Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus) to be changed to, 'Australian Stork' (Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus) as it adequately describes where the bird is from and what it is.
The current name Black-necked Stork describes it wrongly, as having a Black neck, when the neck is actually iridescent green!
