We are seeking support from the community for The Austintown Community Gardens and 1st Free Food Forest. We have an exciting proposal for the ALSD. We would like to build a free community garden which would be accessible to students, senior citizens, and the disabled.
The sole purpose of this endeavor is one of community building, education, and helping others. These types of gardens and “food forests” are not a new idea, and are springing up not only locally but all over the nation. Our neighbors in Niles just opened one in the past month, which you may have seen or read about in the media.
We would like to take this concept one step further and build this garden as an educational and recreational outlet for our children, and at the same time having this open for senior citizens to participate, and have access for folks with disabilities.
We are seeking signatures from the community to show the ASLD there is a desire for this Garden which will benefit anyone living in our community.
We by our signatures would like to see the Austintown Community Garden and Free Food Forest established within our Community. There is no commitment for participation required nor asked for.
We ONLY seek to determine a public response.
