Las Vegas. Dallas. Orlando. Sandy Hook. Aurora. San Bernardino and now
Parkland, Florida. My name is Sadie Rizika, I’m 13 and all these shootings have opened my eyes to the danger of assault rifles in the hands of non-military citizens . Assault rifles were used to murder five people in Dallas, 49 people in Orlando, 26 people in Sandy Hook, 12 people in Aurora, and 14 people in San Bernardino. Right now, these military-grade weapons are available for purchase online, at trade shows, and through gun brokers across our nation. They have become the weapon of choice for mass shooters, We all know this many people wouldn’t of been killed with a knife.
I and the many other students that have been directly or indirectly affected by these school shootings need your help to ban the sale of assault rifles. There was a temporary law created in 1993 to ban assault rifles after the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan in 1981. We need to bring this law back and make it permanent.
