Art Programs in Ferndale School District Needs Change Now!

The upcoming graduating class of 2018 at Ferndale Highschool is in the most important year of their high school career. Deciding a Major as well as a career for the future they would like to have. It took trial and error for me to decide that I would like to major in art and or photography and base a career from a degree in those areas.
I had multiple classes (Taught by the same teacher) dedicated specifically to those two majors: those classes being Exploratory Art, Photography, Painting and 3D design. Taught by Laura Trager who had been an art teacher as well as photography teacher  for 13 years in DC relocated to Michigan.
She resigned after the second week of school because of the lack of care or flexibility for the art programs as well as its teachers. Students in her class were astonished to have her as a teacher but were hurt when they found out she was resigning (Jadira and me included). She told us that if we stand together we have a voice as students and we can create change;  We decided to start a petition, to make a better future for students who have a passion for the arts and hope to create a future with them.
The art program has been like this for many years, but Jadira and me, represent the students of Ferndale High-school and hope to make a change for the future students in the Ferndale district who come to the high-school.
