The Sandal Property Company has submitted a planning application (16/01292/HYB) to Wakefield Council for a new Marks & Spencer Foodhall, and other commercial units, on land off Asdale Road in Sandal. The new 15,000 sq ft store represents a major investment into the area and will add to the existing businesses at the Asdale Road district shopping centre.
If approved, the new store will support the local economy through the creation of up to 50 full time equivalent jobs. Along with new jobs the scheme will also bring the following benefits:
• Better shopping choice and bringing an M&S Foodhall to the area
• Major investment in the area and utilising this vacant site
• 50 full time equivalent jobs created at the M&S plus potentially others from the other units.
We urge Wakefield Council to approve this planning application and deliver a new Marks and Spencer Foodhall on this site.
