Walker Corporation has lodged an application to sub-divide 165 - 239 Appin Road with 337 Residential Lots..

As residents there are a number of reasons why we wish to oppose this development and we seek your support in backing this petition.

We, the undersigned, oppose the proposal to sub-divide 165 -239 Appin Road. APPIN, with 337 Residential Lots, for the reasons set out below:
This sub-division would:

• Create an extra strain on the use of Appin Road (as it is currently a single lane each way and has not been designed to cope with such a large volume of extra vehicles). This could result in the road having to be widened.

• Increase the vulnerability on the land, as it is situated in a Mine subsidence area.

• Require installation of town sewerage and /or upgrade the existing septic system for the whole of Appin.

• Create a need to upgrade the safety in and around the Public School to include a pedestrian crossing, warning signs / extra street lighting, pick up and/or drop off zones for parents to make it safer for children. For these works to be carried out, there would be big disruption to traffic travelling through Appin as well as the local businesses).

• Create a requirement for additional support services (ie medical services) as well as increase the public transport services to & from Appin.

• Take away the charm of Appin’s semi rural living for existing residents. (A number of residents moved into the area specifically for the attraction of Appin and it's peace & quiet).

• Decrease the land value in the area.

If this development goes ahead, all the upgrades / new inclusions will come at a cost to us, the existing residents!!!
