Craig Wheeldon was recently found guilty of affray, on March 18th he faces his sentence and could be facing two years in Jail.

What makes this case unique is the fact that there is no denial of an affray taking place, one which involved the throwing of glasses in a public house. However the CPS have presented no evidence of the affray being planned, a point that was laboured on in the prosecution, it was alleged that a group of Derby county supporters entered a pub knowing that it was full of Nottingham Forrest supporters on that match day.

In the case of Craig is was seen on CCTV entering the premises, behind a group of supporters, of whom he knew only knew through sight or brief encounter, he at no time is seen taking part in the violence that took place in the pub, his part in the affray is by association only.

Craig feels betrayed by the justice system and faces a higher sentence for pleading not guilty of an offense he did not commit. An opposition supporter was found not guilty of affray, even though he was seen throwing a chair on CCTV. Craig is not gulity of affray.

We the undersigned, call upon the relevant authorities to realise that a miscarriage of justice is taking place.

Craig Wheeldon is not guilty of affray, and should not face a sentence in prison for a crime he did not commit.
