The security staff at the new boat ramp facility at Foreshore Rd do not allow the public to fish from the rocks that form part of the new structure. Fishing from these rocks would be one of the safest locations to rock fish in the Sydney metropolitan area.
The decision to stop the public fishing at this location is endangering life by requiring the public to fish from much less safe locations. This ruling should be changed. The use of security staff, CCTV, etc for a public boat ramp is a complete waste of tax payers funds and serves no public good.
The security staff, by harassing the public and generally deteriorating the quality of life for local residents and the general public who wish to utilise this area, achieve very little security benefit an generally do nothing but put the public offside to the extent that a reduced security outcome is a more likely result of this unnecessary large investment of tax payers funds.
We the undersigned call on Randwick council, Sydney Ports Corporation and any other relevant regulating bodies to allow fishing from the Foreshore rd Boat ramp and to consider ceasing the waste of tax payers' funds associated with the unnecessary security assets wastefully employed at this public boat ramp.
