The Polaris Sling Shot was made available to consumers in 2015. This vehicle is designed with a 4 cylinder car engine. Seats with Seatbelts. Steering wheel. Clutch, accelerator, brake pedals, and gear shift. This vehicle is also equipped with a windshield with various sizing options. This vehicle is a two seater with no doors, three wheels, and no roof.
When you hear the description of this vehicle it sounds like a car! However, the controversy between lawmakers, law enforcers and consumers is that a helmet and a Class 3 license is needed in order to operate such vehicle.
Lawmakers and Law enforces feel as though a helmet and special license should be used mainly because of the openness of this vehicle. However, when you break down the specifications. This vehicle is no different than any convertibles on the market or even a Jeep Wrangler where you have the option of removing ALL doors and roofing.
We the undersigned call on the Commonwealth of Virginia and all other states in the United States of America to eliminate the law governing Polaris Sling Shot drivers and riders to use Helmets while riding and mandating a Class 3 license for any driver.
We the undersigned call on the Commonwealth of Virginia and all other states in the United States of America to make the use of a helmet while operating and riding the Polaris Sling Shot – optional instead of mandated.
Furthermore, we the undersigned call on the Commonwealth of Virginia and all other states in the United States of America to approve any driver the ability to operate the Polaris Sling Shot with a normal Driver's License.
