Thank you all for supporting boys volleyball. It may seem small to many but this was huge to my family and others. I was told that the decision to cease boys volleyball wasn't a singular persons decision. Instead, I learned, that this was an organizational decision. It's unfortunate that it got to this level but Matt Thompson, the district executive director, and his colleagues quickly reversed their decision. Boys will continue to play volleyball.
Thanks for all you guys did!
Kris Murray
My son has played volleyball at the YMCA in Alvin, Texas (Thelma Ley Anderson) for the last 4 years. Over those years, this Asperger’s child, has developed into a confident and proud teenager.
He has gained acceptance and respect from his team, league coaches and the many parents that have come to know him. He’s accomplished so much with the support the YMCA (The Young Men's Christian Association) and his coach. They’ve been together since his beginning.
A new director is coming in who evidently believes that boys shouldn’t be allowed to play volleyball. I’m angry and heartbroken at the same time.
Please sign this petition to let the YMCA know that you support boys playing volleyball at the Thelma Ley Anderson YMCA in Alvin, Texas.
